About this role
Shape what comes next | Discover careers in Tech
At Amazon, our tech isn't just a tool, it's your playground. Our engineers work on scalable systems, cloud services, and customer-facing products that operate at global scale. This is an environment where you learn by building. Whether you're creating cloud-native solutions, optimizing machine learning models, or building products that drive experiences for millions of customers around the globe, your work reaches the world, fast. You'll take ownership early, collaborate across teams and disciplines, and grow your skills as you tackle new problems. There's no single path forward here, with a chance to explore different directions and shape your journey as you go. This is where ambition meets opportunity and, where the impact of what you build helps define what comes next, for customers and for you.
As a Cloud Hardware Development Engineer, you will be part of a program team working alongside Senior Engineers to support the design, debug, validation, and optimization of cloud server hardware. You will be involved in projects from concept through production, gaining exposure to the complete design lifecycle. You will also support engineering builds, gaining hands-on experience with high-volume manufacturing.
We are looking for hardware engineers across a variety of domain expertise, including:
• Thermal and heat transfer design
• Mechanical design and packaging
• Materials science
• Reliability engineering
• Signal integrity (high-speed digital)
• Power electronics and power delivery
• General board development (PCB/system board design)
• Server system design and integration
• Manufacturing engineering
Key job responsibilities
As a Cloud Hardware Development Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative server products. You will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary team and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open, collaborative peer environment.
Responsibilities may include:
• Support thermal, mechanical, electrical, or reliability analysis and design of server hardware
• Perform design simulation (thermal, structural, signal integrity, or power)
• Validate hardware and debug issues at the board, system, or rack level
• Develop and execute test plans for hardware qualification and reliability
• Characterize materials and components for server applications
• Support PCB schematic and layout reviews
• Develop automated test tools and data analysis methods
• Travel to support engineering builds at manufacturing partners
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including firmware, software, and manufacturing
A day in the life
We're on the lookout for the curious - those who think big and want to define the world of tomorrow.
At Amazon, you will grow into the high-impact, visionary person you know you're ready to be. Every day will be filled with exciting new challenges, developing new skills, and achieving personal growth.
How often can you say that your work changes the world? At Amazon, you'll say it often. Join us and define tomorrow.
