Role overview
About this role
*Internship period: 4 Jan 2027 – 30 June 2027.
Would you like to be part of the AWS Internship Program, helping us build the data centers that run Amazon Web Services across Southeast Asia? Are you curious about how some of the largest, most complex construction projects in the region are delivered, from design review through to final handover? Do you want to apply what you have learned in engineering, construction management or project management to real, live projects in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia?
Cloud computing is changing how the world uses technology. Since 2006, AWS has provided companies of all sizes with an infrastructure web services platform in the cloud. In this AWS Internship Program you will take on real projects, build skills you can use from day one, and be encouraged to build and innovate. You will be a supported member of our internship community, with access to mentoring, coaching and other learning opportunities.
As a Project Engineer (Intern), you will work alongside our Construction Managers from our Singapore office, supporting the delivery of live projects and new builds across four markets: Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Bangkok (BKK), Jakarta (CGK) and Singapore (SIN). This is a multi-site support role: your day to day is remote coordination with site teams, vendors and partner teams from a single base in Singapore, with periodic travel to the regional sites when a milestone, a handover or an issue genuinely needs someone on the ground. You will see the full project lifecycle and be trusted with real responsibility from early on. This internship is structured with a clear pathway to a permanent role, and we are keen to convert strong performers into a full-time position at the end of the programme. Your work will include:
- Helping produce monthly project reporting — delivery plans, status reports, financial and schedule updates, and safety incident reports — and keeping regional tracking dashboards current so leadership has a single view across all four sites
- Preparing agendas and minutes for project and coordination meetings
- Monitoring and actioning requests for information (RFIs), change orders and design changes, and keeping a tracking system for them across multiple sites
- Updating project management software such as Procore with milestone dates, correspondence and documents, and keeping project records organized and accurate
- Providing commercial support — helping track budgets, purchase orders and progress claims, and flagging commercial issues early
- Coordinating across the region’s general contractors, stakeholders and internal teams, and supporting vendor onboarding, badging and delivery of owner furnished materials to site
What we are looking for: You will need curiosity, attention to detail, and the confidence to ask questions and speak up when something does not look right. No prior data center experience is required. We will teach you the systems and the processes. We are looking for solid fundamentals, strong communication, and a genuine willingness to learn.
Key job responsibilities
Reporting and Project Controls:
- Assist in producing monthly project reporting deliverables (project delivery plans, monthly status reports, financial updates, schedule updates, safety incident reports)
- Maintain and update regional tracking dashboards for leadership across all four sites
- Prepare agendas and minutes for project and coordination meetings
Document Control and Systems:
- Monitor and action RFIs, tracking status and response timelines
- Assist with producing and tracking change orders and variations
- Maintain tracking systems for design changes, RFIs and change orders across multiple sites
- Update project management software (e.g. Procore) with milestone dates, correspondence and documents
- Compile and store construction data from vendors; maintain organized project records
Coordination and Commercial Support:
- Coordinate across general contractors, stakeholders and internal teams region-wide
- Track budgets, purchase orders and progress claims; flag commercial issues early
- Support vendor onboarding for badging and orientation
- Monitor delivery of owner furnished material and equipment to site
- Assist Construction Managers with administrative tasks across supported sites
About the team
The Construction Management and Construction PMO team sits within the Data Center Construction (DCCD) organization for APJC. We deliver Amazon’s data center construction across the region at pace and to a high standard, coordinating closely with general contractors, vendors and partner teams such as Operations, Networking, Controls, Security and Commissioning. Our team comes from engineering, construction management and project management backgrounds. Together we take projects from design review through construction execution to final handover, so our customers’ workloads have the capacity they need.
