This role is for an internship in Summer 2027. The Internship is expected to start on Monday, May 24th with an end date of Friday, August 13th. As a software developer intern, you'll work with an AI development team inside IBM Marketing and ship real features to production over the course of the internship. Our team builds two things: 1) the AI assistant on ibm.com, and 2) internal platform that SEO, content, and marketing teams use to plan, measure, and automate their work. In addition to your daily work, the internship includes educational, networking, and social activities. This is a highly visible intern program with leadership exposure and mentorship throughout the summer. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to whichever side fits your strengths and interest. Interns supporting our AI assistant for ibm.com may: Build agentic and multilingual capabilities for a chatbot serving ibm.com marketing pages and other IBM-owned sites Develop Python tools and API integrations that assistants can call Develop agentic search using hybrid RAG, internal APIs, and third-party services Build crawling pipelines and integrations that keep the assistant's answers grounded in current ibm.com content Extend our evaluation and testing framework Research competitor features and contribute ideas to move our chatbot forward Collaborate with frontend, contact-channel, UX, and design teams on a unified experience Develop analytics dashboards and analyze data to see what’s working Interns supporting our internal marketing platform may: Develop a Next.js platform for SEO and AI-visibility reporting, page planning, work management, and process automation Build data integrations and pipelines across web analytics, search, CMS platforms, SEO tools, a custom crawler, and business systems into a shared marketing database Build APIs and AI-driven scripts that automate audits, research, and content workflows for other teams Contribute to our open-source integrations between watsonx.ai and frameworks like theVercelAI SDK Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and turn feedback into shipped features This role is based in New York City. We work in a hybrid environment. This position will be required to come into the office at least three days per week. This role will be posted until October 2. We will review all applications. Currently enrolled in an accredited University studying Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computational Linguistics, Analytics, or related technical disciplines Available for an internship in Summer 2027 Completing your degree program between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028 Pursuing aBachelor’sdegree and a rising senior for the 2027-2028 school year Programming experience in Python orJavascript/TypeScript (coursework, projects, or prior internships) Familiarity with web development — a framework like Next.js, React, or similar Basic SQL experience Understanding of Git fundamentals Clear written and verbal communication and willingness to ask questions Self-directed and detail-oriented — comfortable digging into unfamiliar code and documentation to find the right solution, taking initiative to learn aboutnew technologywhen needed, and asking questions when stuck Experience with REST API development Experience writing tests Experience building LLM/agentic applications (RAG, tool use, evals) — class or personal projects count Experience with dashboards or data visualization Exposure to web analytics, SEO, or marketing data, or marketing related classes
