Conduct a one-year research assignment in collaboration with IBM and SETU, focused on the application of Artificial Intelligence to IBM Z security vulnerabilities and related areas of AI assisted security research. Research activities will include investigating AI/ML approaches for vulnerability identification, analysis and prioritisation, developing research prototypes and evaluating opportunities for AI-assisted security automation. The role will collaborate closely with IBM technical teams and SETU research and will communicate research findings, prototypes and recommendations to relevant stakeholders. Strong academic or professional background in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity or a related technical discipline. Strong understanding of AI and Machine Learning concepts. Experience with Python and software development. Experience conducting technical or academic research. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaborate with technical research teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Research experience in Computer Science, AI, Cybersecurity or a related field. Experience applying AI/ML to cybersecurity or vulnerability research. Experience with Large Language Models and Generative AI. Experience with vulnerability research, static analysis, code analysis or automated security testing. Knowledge of Linux and/or IBM Z technologies. Experience with C/C++, Python and Git. Experience developing AI/ML research prototypes or publishing technical research.
