The Associate Platform Engineer exercises judgment when following detailed instructions and standardized procedures to complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines, and is responsible for following routine procedures to complete standard assignments and resolve platform engineering issues of minimal complexity. This role works closely with senior platform engineers and development teams to support basic developer platform capabilities, focusing on routine maintenance tasks, documentation updates, and simple automation scripts that contribute to overall developer experience improvements. The Associate Platform Engineer collaborates primarily with immediate team members and follows established protocols to support platform operations that enable developer self-service capabilities. - Follow established procedures to maintain basic platform components and monitoring dashboards under supervision - Execute routine platform maintenance tasks including system updates, basic configuration changes, and environment health checks - Complete documentation updates for platform self-service capabilities and developer onboarding materials following provided templates - Support basic CI/CD pipeline maintenance and troubleshooting using established runbooks and procedures - Assist with routine developer support requests through ticketing systems using standardized response procedures - Perform basic infrastructure monitoring tasks and escalate issues following defined protocols and severity guidelines - Complete assigned automation script updates and testing under guidance from senior team members - Participate in platform incident response activities following established procedures and escalation protocols - Support basic platform user onboarding and access provisioning following security protocols and approval workflows - Contribute to platform metrics collection and reporting using existing tools and established measurement frameworks • Application Packaging Knowledge: Exposure to application packaging concepts, including creating and deploying software packages for various platforms. • Electronic Software Distribution Understanding: Familiarity with electronic software distribution methods, including tools and techniques for efficient software deployment. • Desktop Image Build Expertise: Experience working with desktop image build processes, including creating and managing images for various operating systems. • Technical Troubleshooting Skills: Exposure to troubleshooting complex software platform issues, including identifying and resolving problems using technical expertise. • Communication and Collaboration: Experience working with clients and internal teams to understand requirements, provide solutions, and ensure effective communication throughout the software platform management process. • Electronic Software Distribution Tools: Familiarity with tools and techniques for efficient software deployment, including exposure to various electronic software distribution methods. • Advanced Troubleshooting Techniques: Exposure to advanced troubleshooting methods for complex software platform issues, including experience with technical problem-solving approaches. • Operating System Knowledge: Experience working with various operating systems, including understanding their configuration and management.
