Role overview
About this role
As an IBM Consulting FutureNow Center Intern, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to help solve real business and technology challenges for clients around the world. You'll gain hands-on experience, build in-demand technical and professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects while learning in a collaborative, team-based environment. This internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience that prepares students for a potential full-time career with IBM Consulting upon graduation. No two projects are exactly alike. You could support healthcare, financial services, public sector, or other clients as they modernize applications, adopt cloud technologies, and solve complex business challenges. At IBM, you'll learn from experienced technology professionals while gaining hands-on experience with modern software development and consulting practices. During your internship, you may have opportunities to: • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with cross-functional teams to learn how requirements are understood, support the definition of technical solutions, and contribute to project delivery. • Contribute to Solution Design & Documentation: Assist with technical specifications and document design decisions under the guidance of experienced team members to support effective communication and collaboration. • Contribute to High-Quality Software: Develop and improve code with guidance, and participate in code reviews and software quality practices to build your skills. • Develop Modern Applications: Contribute to cloud-native and full-stack applications using Microsoft technologies such as Azure, .NET, C#, Power Platform, and related databases, APIs, and UI frameworks, while learning to consider user experience, performance, security, and quality. This role is aligned to the Azure & Microsoft application development practice, focused on supporting the development of enterprise applications, cloud solutions, AI-enabled services, automation, and business productivity technologies using Microsoft platforms. You don't need experience with every technology listed. Many interns join IBM with a foundation in computer science, software engineering, or related technical disciplines and develop specialized expertise through mentorship, structured learning, certifications, hands-on projects, and AI-enabled tools. Throughout your internship, you'll gain exposure to software engineering, cloud technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), DevOps, Agile, and enterprise application development, while working with experienced engineers, architects, and technology professionals on real client projects across multiple industries. We're not looking for experts; we hire for potential, curiosity, and a passion for learning. High-performing interns may be considered for full-time Associate opportunities following graduation, based on business needs and individual performance. To give yourself the best opportunity for success, we advise applying only to roles that align with your skills and experience, rather than applying broadly across all entry-level positions. You’ll receive a status update email for each application, so be sure to check your IBM Careers account regularly — it’s the best way to get a centralized view of which roles you have active applications against.
