Role overview
About this role
We're looking for an intern to join our quantum error correction research team. The focus of the internship will be on simulating low-error rate regimes and optimizing the performance of existing decoders. Work on other topics may be possible, depending on current project priorities Your work may be in one of the following errors: - Implementing a Markov-Chain Monte-Carlo method for rare-event / low-noise quantum error correction simulations - Investigating different optimization strategies for tuning decoders for optimal performance - Work on methods for efficiently generating representative training data The ideal candidate should have a background in Physics, Computer Science, Maths or a related field and ideally is familiar with quantum error correction. Programming skills are desirable. English proficiency (at least B2) is required, German proficiency is a plus. Suited for undergraduate and graduate students The role is suited for undergraduate and graduate students Experience in quantum and/or classical error correction and decoder research and benchmarking of decoders. Knowledge about standard decoders, such as Belief Propagation. Familiarity with low-error rate sampling methods and optimization methods. Familiarity with coding theory Knowlege of rare event simulation methods is beneficial
