As a theoretical research scientist with IBM Quantum, your job will be to advance the field of quantum computing by investigating topics of theoretical importance to fault tolerant quantum computations. Areas of research include quantum error correction, decoding theory, fault tolerant algorithms, information theory, and compilation. Experience in academic graduate program related to applicable area of quantum computing, such as error correction, fault tolerant algorithms, information theory, decoding theory, or compilation. Coursework or projects in applicable area. Demonstrated experience performing theoretical research. Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages such as Python. Passion for solving problems of strategic interest to IBM's roadmap for fault-tolerant quantum computing. Strong publication record in high-impact journals. Programming experience in core & scientific language (e.g. python, numpy, scipy, matplotlib) and Qiskit. Familiarity with Git and/or Github. Familiarity with AI tooling for research.
