The IBM Storage Solutions Team works with strategic ISV and OEM partners to expand the value and marketability of IBM Storage technologies through collaborative solution development and go-to-market initiatives. The team works closely with: IBM Storage product managers, engineers, researchers, marketers, and technical specialists. Strategic technology partners and ecosystem organizations worldwide. Client-facing teams responsible for delivering innovative infrastructure solutions. Our goal is to create impactful solutions that address real customer challenges while advancing IBM’s storage and hybrid cloud strategy. The Storage Client Solutions Engineering Intern role is designed for students pursuing a technical degree who are interested in developing expertise in enterprise storage, hybrid cloud infrastructure, AI-enabled data platforms, and modern IT architectures. This internship provides hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers, product leaders, and technology partners to support solution development, testing, and customer-focused innovation. This is an opportunity to gain practical experience with how IBM Storage solutions help organizations manage data for AI workloads, mission-critical applications, hybrid cloud environments, and emerging technologies. Throughout the internship, you will build technical skills, contribute to real-world projects, and develop an understanding of solution engineering and partner ecosystems within IBM Infrastructure. Roles and Responsibilities Assist senior engineers with research, technical discovery activities, and customer requirements gathering. Support the development of technical demonstrations, presentations, and solution-related materials. Participate in lab activities, PoC deployments, solution testing, and validation exercises. Help document solution architectures, configuration guides, best practices, and technical findings. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of internal knowledge assets and reusable solution content. Support partner enablement activities, technical workshops, and demonstration environments. Assist with analyzing solution adoption, customer feedback, and technical engagement metrics. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, product management, and technical sales organizations. Learn about industry trends related to storage, hybrid cloud, AI infrastructure, and data management. Basic Knowledge or Coursework In Enterprise storage concepts and data management fundamentals. Storage technologies, including block, file, and object storage. Virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM. Containers and orchestration concepts, including Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker. Cloud computing fundamentals (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud). AI technologies and platforms from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel. Linux operating systems and command-line fundamentals. Basic understanding of networking concepts and distributed systems. Required Education Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline. Must be enrolled in an accredited university program and returning to school following the internship. Strong academic foundation in infrastructure, cloud computing, data systems, or software engineering. Hands-on experience through coursework, personal projects, labs, hackathons, or student organizations. Previous technical internship, co-op, academic research, open-source contribution, or hands-on technical project experience. Familiarity with scripting or programming languages such as Python, Bash, or Go. Exposure to AI/ML, data analytics platforms, or modern data pipelines. Experience using cloud services in academic or personal projects. Demonstrated leadership through academic, extracurricular, or community activities. Experience collaborating on technical projects as part of a team. Preferred Education Junior, Senior, or Master’s degree student preferred. Relevant coursework in distributed systems, cloud computing, storage systems, networking, cybersecurity, or AI/ML. Relevant certifications or training in AI, cloud, Kubernetes, Linux, or infrastructure technologies are a plus.
