Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate proof-of-concept solutions involving high-speed communication interfaces, protocols, and system integration between FPGAs, processors, and peripheral devices for test and measurement applications.
- Design, implement, and validate data transfer architectures for movement of measurement and instrumentation data across embedded systems.
- Develop FPGA and embedded software components for interface bring-up, protocol validation, and performance optimization.
- Perform system integration, debugging, and characterization of hardware and software subsystems.
- Analyze throughput, latency, resource utilization, and reliability of proposed solutions.
- Document technical findings, prepare test reports, and present project results to the engineering team.
Qualifications
- Student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog (SystemVerilog a plus).
- Understanding of FPGA architectures, digital design principles, timing analysis, and synthesis/place-and-route flows.
- Experience with FPGA development tools (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or similar) and simulation/debugging techniques.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, USB, and high-speed interfaces (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet, or AXI).
- Experience or coursework in digital signal processing, data acquisition, and measurement techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with embedded systems and interfacing FPGAs with microcontrollers or processors is desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
