We are seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join our engineering team and contribute to software development, testing, debugging, and documentation activities. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers on projects selected based on current team needs, technical background, and demonstrated skill level.
Responsibilities
Depending on project assignments, responsibilities may include:
- Assist with software development, enhancements, and bug fixes.
- Perform software and system testing, including data collection and verification of software behavior.
- Assist with bug investigations by reproducing issues, analyzing software behavior, documenting findings, and verifying fixes.
- Read, understand, and modify existing software with guidance from experienced engineers.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including test results, procedures, software changes, and technical findings.
- Potentially work with software that interfaces with hardware, test equipment, or other system components.
- Work on a combination of defined engineering tasks and small projects, with scope and complexity based on experience and demonstrated capabilities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
- Intermediate proficiency in both C and C++, demonstrated through coursework, academic projects, personal projects, or previous work experience.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate technical problems and develop practical solutions.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information and document engineering work.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other engineers, ask questions, and incorporate feedback.
- Willingness to learn unfamiliar software, tools, technologies, and existing codebases.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience debugging software, including reproducing issues, using debugging tools, and analyzing program behavior.
- Experience reading, understanding, and modifying an existing or unfamiliar codebase.
- Experience with Windows desktop UI development or frameworks such as MFC, WinForms, WPF, or Qt.
- Experience developing and debugging software using Microsoft Visual Studio in a Windows environment.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with appropriate guidance.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with C#.
- Familiarity with Git or another source control system.
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts or hardware/software interfaces.
- Exposure to software or system testing, including executing test cases and documenting results.
The level of role will be based on applicable experience, education and skills. Most offers will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary listed below. For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region.
