Ready to grow your technical skills and build a career in data center operations? Oracle’s Catalyst Velocity program is designed for individuals with a foundation in technology, technical operations, or related experience who are ready to take the next step.
Catalyst Velocity is a 12-week paid work and training program that prepares participants for a career in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) data center operations. Through hands-on experience, technical training, mentorship, and career development, participants will strengthen the skills needed to succeed as a Data Center Technician.
The goal of the program is for trainees to transition into permanent, full-time Data Center Technician positions upon successful completion of the program, based on available opportunities and applicable employment requirements.
What you’ll learn
During the 12-week program, you’ll receive hands-on training while working alongside experienced data center technicians.
You’ll develop and strengthen your technical skills across key areas of data center operations, including server hardware, networking fundamentals, Linux, cloud infrastructure, troubleshooting, safety and operational best practices, and inventory and logistics operations.
You’ll also receive coaching and mentorship to support your continued technical and professional development and help prepare you for a career in data center operations.
What you’ll do during the program
Data center operations and hardware support
Perform rack-and-stack activities for servers, network devices, and supporting infrastructure.
Assist with server deployments, hardware upgrades, component replacements, and decommissioning activities.
Perform basic break/fix tasks following approved procedures.
Support hardware lifecycle management.
Learn troubleshooting techniques and escalate issues when appropriate.
Network installation and cabling
Install, organize, and label copper and fiber cabling.
Assist with network equipment installations.
Verify cable integrity.
Learn networking fundamentals and data center communication standards.
Ticket management and operational support
Complete assigned work using approved ticketing systems.
Document completed work and operational activities.
Follow service-level agreements (SLAs), operational procedures, and escalation processes.
Inventory and logistics
Receive, stage, track, audit, and ship equipment.
Maintain inventory records.
Support warehouse and material handling activities.
Safety and compliance
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Method of Procedures (MOPs), and safety requirements.
Follow Oracle security, compliance, and change management processes.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Who should apply
Objective Minimum Qualifications
At least one of the following:
Associate Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking, Data Center Operations, or a related technical discipline; OR
Four (4) years of military service with relevant technical, operational, communications, logistics, aviation, electronics, maintenance, or infrastructure experience; OR
Two (2) years of experience in data center operations, technical support, IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, electronics, or related fields.
Minimum 18 years of age
Demonstrated interest in technology and a desire to build a career in data center operations.
Ability to learn technical concepts and follow documented procedures with precision.
Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
Basic understanding of mathematical and computational concepts.
Basic computer skills. Experience with a MAC is a plus though not required.
Professional attitude with a customer-focused mindset.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely.
Ability to climb ladders, work at height, and operate in confined spaces as required.
Ability to perform physically demanding work in a data center environment, including standing or walking for most of the shift.
Ability to work non-standard schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and shift-based assignments.
Access to reliable personal transportation to travel to, and between, assigned data center buildings during the shift, as needed.
Ability to travel locally and up to 5% domestically as required.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. For clarity purposes, this means that Oracle is not in a position now, or in the future, to offer US immigration sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting data center or cloud infrastructure environments.
- Experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar ticket management platforms.
- Familiarity with enterprise server, storage, and networking equipment.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
- Linux command-line experience.
- Experience with RAID, fiber optics, and structured cabling systems.
- ESD, electrical safety, ladder, powered equipment, server lift, or related certifications.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale IT infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of server hardware, storage, and networking technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot routine operational and technical issues with limited supervision.
- Strong procedural discipline and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, quality, safety, and operational rigor.
- Ability to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Ability to mentor and support developing technicians.
- Effective communication across teams and stakeholders.
This is a 12-week temporary assignment and is not eligible for paid time off (PTO) or relocation.

US: Hiring Range in USD from $13.03 to $24.81 per hour; from: $27,100 to $51,600 per annum.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
