About this role
Overview The R&D FSQA Intern will be responsible for performing accurate microbiological testing and reporting of beverage samples for the Global Quality Marketplace (3C) Program, supporting line qualifications, innovation projects, troubleshooting, and customer requirements while ensuring compliance with PepsiCo standards and procedures. Duties include preparing laboratory reagents and controls, managing and supporting LIMS systems and master data, reviewing and interpreting analytical results, and conducting method validations and investigations. Maintains laboratory quality systems through proficiency testing, quality control monitoring, data analysis, and reporting. Supports KPI tracking, ISO 17025:2017 and A2LA compliance, Health & Safety and GLP standards, and contributes to the Cork FSQA Microbiology Lab strategy. Responsibilities Prepare laboratory reagents, solutions, controls, and instrumentation to support testing. Perform microbiological testing and reporting of beverage samples in compliance with PepsiCo global standards and procedures. Maintain and support StarLIMS system, including sample management, specifications, and master data administration. Review, interpret, and communicate microbiological test results and analytical findings. Conduct method validations, investigations, and proficiency testing to support accreditation and continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with ISO 17025:2017, A2LA accreditation requirements, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), and Health & Safety standards. Qualifications Microbiological/Analytical Chemistry/Nutritional Science/Food Science/ Technology knowledge Excellent written and oral communication skills Flexibility regarding priority changes Positive attitude and ability to work in a cross functional and global environment (cultural awareness) Good organizational, time-management and teamwork skills Cooperate with co-workers within an organized team environment or work alone with supervision Manage time effectively to complete assignments in expected time frame Exhibits a can-do attitude and a willingness to take on significant challenges Ability to analyse and interpret data
