Role Overview
As a Physical Mixed Layout Engineer Intern, you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside our experienced design team on the layout of complex integrated circuits. You will be exposed to the entire chip design process, from concept to production, and play a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of our next-generation semiconductor solutions
Responsibilities may include:
· Collaborate with senior engineers to create and optimize physical mixed-signal layouts for integrated circuits.
· Assist in floorplanning, placement, and routing of analog and digital blocks.
· Utilize industry-standard EDA tools for layout design and verification.
· Participate in design reviews and provide input on layout-related decisions.
· Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure layout meets performance, power, and area requirements.
· Troubleshoot and resolve layout-related issues as they arise
Minimum Qualifications:
· Basic understanding of semiconductor fundamentals and integrated circuit design principles.
· Familiarity with layout design tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys IC Compiler, or similar would be an advantage.
· Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or TCL is a plus.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
· PCB and FPGA experience
· Coursework in CMOS
Education Requirements:
In study towards a bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or related field
For 16-month internships: must be available May/June 2027 - August/September 2028
Expected graduation date of November 2028 or later.
1+ years of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, etc

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$54,600.00 - $103,350.00The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
