Supply Chain Planner / Buyer

We are seeking a highly analytical and results-driven Supply Chain Planner / Buyer to support our manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for balancing supply and demand, ensuring material availability, managing supplier performance, and coordinating production plans to meet customer requirements on time while achieving operational and financial objectives.

The Supply Chain Planner / Buyer serves as a key liaison between procurement, suppliers, production, engineering, customer service, and logistics. This role is responsible for end-to-end planning activities, including material procurement, inventory management, production scheduling, capacity planning, supplier coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will leverage SAP and other planning tools to ensure uninterrupted material flow, optimize inventory levels, improve schedule adherence, and support customer delivery commitments.

The 1^st 6 months you will be required to be on-site. Thereafter, 2-3 days/week in office minimum – or as business requires.

As a Supply Chain Planner / Buyer, you will:

• Supply & Demand Balancing
  • Coordinate and balance supply and demand to support production requirements and customer commitments.
  • Evaluate material availability, production capacity, and supplier capabilities to develop executable production and procurement plans.
  • Monitor and adjust plans to address demand fluctuations, supply constraints, and operational priorities.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, planning, procurement, engineering, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure alignment on business objectives.
• Procurement & Supplier Management
  • Manage procurement activities through SAP, including reviewing requisitions and issuing purchase orders to internal and external suppliers.
  • Ensure suppliers meet delivery, quality, and performance expectations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to align production schedules with manufacturing demand.
  • Resolve supplier-related issues and drive corrective actions to minimize supply disruptions.
  • Monitor and maintain purchasing master data including lead times, minimum order quantities, safety stock levels, and purchasing information records.
• Production Planning & Scheduling
  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer demand, material availability, and manufacturing capacity.
  • Evaluate work center capacity and resource availability to improve schedule adherence and operational efficiency.
  • Drive and coordinate daily production planning meetings.
  • Prioritize manufacturing orders to maximize on-time delivery performance and productivity.
  • Monitor key performance indicators related to schedule adherence, delivery reliability, and production efficiency.
• Inventory & Materials Management
  • Ensure material availability to support production schedules and customer orders.
  • Monitor inventory levels and develop strategies to optimize inventory investment while minimizing shortages.
  • Work closely with receiving and warehouse teams to resolve discrepancies and material issues.
  • Manage GR/IR (Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt) discrepancies and support invoice reconciliation efforts.
  • Support continuous improvement of inventory accuracy and material flow processes.
• Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze large data sets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Review, update, and maintain SAP master data and system configurations.
  • Support productivity, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence activities.
  • Develop and implement process improvements that enhance supply chain performance and customer satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 3–5+ years of experience in procurement, production planning, material planning, and supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with capacity planning and production scheduling.
• Must be able to demonstrate:
  • Knowledge of MRP systems (SAP) and supply chain planning concepts.
  • Advanced proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Excel (formulas, Pivot Tables, and data analysis), and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Attention to detail and data accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:

• APICS CPIM and/or CSCP certification.
• Lean Manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of SAP master data maintenance and system configuration.
• Experience with Microsoft Access, Excel Macros, or advanced data analysis tools.
• Proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives.

The pay range for this position is $49,480 - $84,823 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
