Quantum Infrastructure Intern 2027 - SRE

As part of Quantum Operations, our mission is to build, maintain, and continuously elevate the foundational environment that enables the development and delivery of our Quantum solutions to customers. Our team brings together expertise across Security, Infrastructure, Reliability, Testing, and Performance to ensure our platform remains robust, scalable, and secure. As a Site Reliability Engineer intern with IBM Quantum, you will help ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of software systems that support IBM Quantum systems, applications, and research platforms. In this role, you will work closely with security experts, infrastructure engineers, and operations teams to monitor system health, troubleshoot production issues, automate operational tasks, and maintain stable, scalable environments. You will gain hands-on experience with cloud technologies, automation, observability, and site reliability engineering practices while contributing to the advancement of quantum computing technologies. Currently pursuing a degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field Experince in programing Java Experince in programing Python, including pandas, NumPy Understanding of data structures in software applications Experience with software tools such as VS Code, Jupyter notebooks, Git Understanding of linear algebra, probability, statistics Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new technologies Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi Practical experience deploying and operating workloads on a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP, or IBM Cloud) Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
